[Perspectives] Tamzin Cuming: supporting inclusivity in surgery

When consultant colorectal surgeon Tamzin Cuming took part in a short film challenging prejudice about women in the workforce back in 2016, she had no idea what the reaction would be. Funded by the UK charity Inspiring the Future, the video showed a group of primary school children being asked to draw a surgeon, firefighter, and pilot—nearly all of them drew men—before the dramatic reveal when Cuming and two other women walked into the room to widespread gasps. It attracted millions of views on social media.
